Rhythm & Power: Salsa in New York

Explore the dance costumes, musical instruments, record covers, and photographs featured in the exhibition  and learn how to add action and motion to your drawings. A lesson by artist Simon Levenson will be followed by independent sketching time in the gallery. The program also includes a tour of Rhythm & Power, which illuminates salsa as a social movement from the 1960s to the present.

Sketch & Sip is open to adults ages 21 years old & up, of all artistic abilities. Fee includes two drinks (wine, beer, soda, and juice will be served) and drawing materials for use during class time.

Advance registration is required. Space limited to 25 participants per class.

Simon Levenson is the drawing instructor at The National Arts Club and the founder of Drawing New York. He teaches oil painting at The Art Students League and drawing at the Museum of the City of New York and The Morgan Library and Museum. His oil paintings are represented by Cavalier Gallery. He has a permanent installation for The Metropolitan Transportation Authority at the Beach 60th Street station on the A train.

$30 for adults | $25 for seniors & students (with ID) | $20 for Museum members.
Includes Museum admission.
